Many pets adopted impulsively end up abandoned, with over 100,000 animals left behind each year. In this article, we will highlight some celebrities who have adopted and are caring for rescued dogs, showcasing their commitment to animal welfare.

Rosé

BLACKPINK’s Rosé shared a photo of her dog, Hank, on social media in 2020. Previously known as Mir, Hank was a stray dog temporarily housed at a shelter. After seeing Hank’s photo online, Rosé decided to adopt him. The shelter expressed their gratitude, noting, “Mir has found a family as Hank,” and thanked Rosé and her family. Rosé has created and manages a dedicated social media account for Hank.

Momo

Momo’s social media

TWICE’s Momo announced on social media that she adopted a stray dog named Dobby. She posted several photos featuring Dobby alongside her two other dogs, introducing Dobby as a new family member. Momo also participated in the Goodnight, Baby challenge with fellow TWICE members Sana and Chaeyoung on her Instagram, where Dobby and her other pets can be seen in the background.

Tzuyu

Tzuyu, also from TWICE, adopted two stray dogs after bidding farewell to her beloved pet, Gucci, who had been with her for ten years. During a live broadcast celebrating the 5th anniversary of the TWICE fan club, ONCE, Tzuyu introduced her new pets, Kaya and Butter, who are in the process of being officially adopted. Tzuyu described Butter as very shy and prone to staying close to the wall, while Kaya is more energetic. Tzuyu’s two dogs frequently appear on her social media.

CHUNG HA

Korean singer CHUNG HA has taken in a stray dog with a congenital brain disorder rescued from a puppy mill. This facility, known for commercial dog breeding, was found to violate hygiene and animal welfare standards. The dog, Aran, was a breeding dog but was deemed too small to breed and left homeless. CHUNG HA now cares for Aran and her other two dogs, Bambi and Aran.

Lee Ki Woo

Korean actor Lee Ki Woo lives with his two rescue dogs, Teddy and Chacha, who were both previously strays. Lee was drawn to Teddy because he resembled a dog he had lost earlier, while Chacha was adopted through social media. According to Lee, Teddy is wise and calm, while Chacha, though mischievous, is gradually maturing. Lee Ki Woo manages a separate social media account showcasing his dogs.

Kim Go Eun

Korean actress Kim Go Eun adopted a stray dog with a congenital brain disorder. Estimated to be about six months old, the dog was found abandoned in a remote area after several days of starvation. The dog’s condition causes its head to tilt to the left, making walking difficult. The condition is untreatable and will require the dog to live with this illness for life. Kim Go Eun named the dog Wool-i and frequently shares updates about Wool-i on her social media.

On the MBC variety show I Live Alone, Korean singer Crush revealed that he adopted a stray dog named Rose. Previously living with a dog named Duyu, Crush adopted Rose as a second pet, noting her troubled past. Both dogs are trained to relieve themselves outside, and Crush mentioned that he takes them for walks an average of four times a day, highlighting his dedication to their care.

Cho Seung Woo

Korean actor Cho Seung Woo lives with one dog and two cats. Known for his exceptional love for pets, he even designs his home’s interior with their comfort in mind. Having previously adopted and promoted the Korean Sapsaree breed, Cho Seung Woo has rescued a stray dog from an animal shelter in Gyeongnam’s Goseong County. Initially known only by the identification number Animal Card 50, the dog has been renamed Gomja under Cho’s care.

Nam Bora

Korean Actress Nam Bora introduced her pet dog, Meoteol-i, on her YouTube channel Nam Bora’s Life Theater. Meoteol-i was rescued from a breeding facility in Hwaseong. Nam Bora traveled an hour and a half to meet Meoteol-i. At the time of rescue, Meoteol-i had severe dental issues and a tick infestation. After adoption, Meoteol-i required ten tooth extractions and spent two days in the hospital before recovering.

Shin Dong Yup

Shin Dong Yup, who has long hosted the SBS variety show TV Animal Farm, adopted a stray dog named Cream. The three-month-old puppy’s adoption was announced on the show, and Cream’s updates are now shared on the social media account Maknae Cream. Shin Dong Yup frequently takes Cream with him wherever he goes and often mentions the dog on his broadcasts, demonstrating his deep affection for his pet.
