One Direction was formed in 2010 through the British reality survival show The X Factor. Since their debut, the band has enjoyed immense global popularity, launching several stars, including Harry Styles.

The group gained love for hits like “What Makes You Beautiful” and “One Thing.” However, after deciding to pause group activities in 2015, each member has focused on solo careers.

Liam Payne was born in Wolverhampton, just outside Birmingham, England. In 2008, he auditioned as a solo act for The X Factor. Two years later, he re-auditioned alongside four other contestants, including Niall Horan, Zayn Malik, and Louis Tomlinson, to become a member of One Direction. The band emphasized a casual style of approachable music, and Liam contributed musically by writing several songs.
