North Korea’s 4th Gen Succession to be a Female? Kim’s Beloved Daughter Considered a Heir

On the 9th, German media revisited the leadership succession structure in North Korea on the 75th anniversary of the regime’s establishment.

The German public broadcaster Deutsche Welle (DW) released a commentary titled “The Kim Dynasty has reached 75 years” ahead of the 75th-anniversary parade’s details. They highlighted, “A primary focus is on who will stand next to Kim Jong Un (39), the Chairman of the State Affairs Commission, especially if his daughter Kim Ju-ae will make an appearance.”

DW explained, “There is a lot of interest in the people around Chairman Kim Jong Un,” and “Although China and Russia confirmed the attendance of government delegations, the interest of North Korean experts will be much more focused on the attendance of 11-year-old daughter Kim Ju-ae.”

Indeed, Kim Ju-ae appeared alongside Chairman Kim at the 75th anniversary parade of the regime’s establishment, which began at Kim Il-sung Square in Pyongyang on the evening of the 8th.

Kim Ju-ae has continuously accompanied her father at significant events since her first public appearance during a missile test launch in November 2022.

Based on this, DW suggested the possibility that Kim Ju-ae is receiving the affection of Chairman Kim Jong Un as a successor to lead the North Korean regime.

The media stated, “Kim Ju-ae is reportedly the second of Kim Jong Un’s three children.” They added, “While much of Kim Jong Un’s family history remains secretive, South Korean intelligence has indicated that Kim Jong-un’s first child is a boy.”

“Although men have a great advantage as potential leaders in a male-dominated society, Kim Ju-ae appears to be the child her father likes the most,” and “There have been signs that Kim Ju-ae is being trained to seize power as the head of the communist state of North Korea,” the media explained.

DW cited the three-generation succession of the North Korean regime, pointing out that President Kim Il-sung and Chairman Kim Jong-il also publicly introduced successors to ensure that their descendants would continue to rule.

However, the media added that after the death of President Kim Il-sung in 1994, the successor was his eldest son, Kim Jong-il, but when Chairman Kim Jong-il died in 2011, the third son, Kim Jong Un, surpassed the eldest son, Kim Jong-Nam, and the second son, Kim Jong-Chol.

Quoting a North Korean expert, DW also explained that Chairman Kim Jong Un’s public display of Kim Ju-ae may be aimed at encouraging North Korean residents and alleviating concerns about the system’s future.
