Gaza City Residents Encouraged to Stay Amid Israeli Evacuation Orders

Amid Israeli military authorities ordering residents of ‘Gaza City’ in the Gaza Strip to evacuate south within 24 hours, Palestinian armed faction Hamas has called on residents to hold their ground.

Jonathan Conricus, the spokesperson for the Israeli Defense Forces (IDF), urged in his daily briefing on social media X (formerly Twitter) on the 13th (local time), “All civilians in Gaza City should leave their homes and seek safety by evacuating to the south ‘Wadi Gaza.'”

Gaza City is the largest Palestinian city within the Gaza Strip. According to the UN, nearly half of the approximately 2.3 million residents of the Gaza Strip are concentrated in Gaza City.

Spokesperson Conricus stated, “The IDF will move considerable forces within Gaza in the next few days,” suggesting that the deployment of ground forces is imminent.

However, while explaining the evacuation order, Spokesperson Conricus warned, “Do not approach the security fence with Israel.” It means do not go towards the Israeli border.

Hamas requested that residents not leave, stating that the evacuation order was intended to “cause chaos among the residents and weaken the stability of our internal front.”

Hamas told residents to “stay home” and “stand firm against this disgusting psychological warfare triggered by the occupiers (Israel).”

About this, Spokesperson Conricus emphasized in the briefing, “Hamas terrorists are hiding in Gaza’s tunnels, basements of houses, and buildings densely populated with innocent Gaza civilians. Keep a distance from terrorists who use you as human shields”.
