Wang Wenbin, spokesperson for the Chinese Ministry of Foreign Affairs, emphasized at a regular briefing on the 6th, “China will do its utmost to restore peace in Palestine and promote responsible actions of the Security Council.” He added, “We will protect the safety of civilians through responsible and meaningful measures as soon as possible and alleviate the current crisis.”
He further stressed, “We will work with the international community to mediate conflicts and ease tensions. We will tirelessly strive to return the Palestinian issue to the track of the ‘two-state solution.'” This is a typical Chinese statement, which consistently argues that the only solution to the conflict is a plan for Israel and Palestine to coexist peacefully as separate states based on Palestinian independence.
Spokesperson Wang also argued, “The number of civilian deaths in Palestine is skyrocketing, and a catastrophic humanitarian situation is unfolding in the Gaza Strip. The international community can no longer allow such a tragedy to continue.”
Before this, Spokesperson Wang had also identified the issue of civilian casualties in the Gaza Strip in Palestine as the most urgent issue on the UNSC scheduled for November 2nd.
China’s two-state solution appears relatively neutral on the surface. However, it can be confidently stated that almost no Western countries make such a claim. Naturally, Israel, a party to the conflict, and the United States, which considers itself a guardian, are dismissing it as nonsense. On the other hand, most Middle Eastern countries, including Palestine, are in favor. It can be said that it is not a neutral claim.
