What is Faker’s Salary?
On the 11th and 12th, at the Busan Sajik Indoor Gymnasium, Korea’s T1 team advanced to the finals of the 2023 LoL (League of Legends) World Championship semi-finals by defeating the Chinese team JDG. If they win this tournament, they will achieve their fourth overall victory, so their games have garnered high interest.
The LoL World Championship is the most popular e-sports tournament in the world, held every fall. As it is called the flower of League of Legends e-sports, the scale of the prize money is also exceptional.
This year’s total prize money is $2,225,000 (approximately $2.5 million), and some of the revenue generated by viewers purchasing in-game currency during the tournament is added. The winning team takes 20% of the prize money, and the runner-up team takes 15%.
Korea’s T1 includes world-class players such as ‘Faker’ Lee Sang-hyuk, ‘Keria’ Ryu Min-seok, and ‘Gumayusi’ Lee Min-hyung.
Faker, in particular, is called the World Legend and recently won a gold medal at the Hangzhou Asian Games as a national representative. His salary is estimated at about $5.9 million in the industry.
Faker’s real estate is also a hot topic, along with his fame. In June 2020, he purchased a building named Faker Tower, located in Hwagok-dong, Gangseo-gu, Seoul, for about $9.6 million under the corporate name of Able Inc. Able Inc. was established in May 2020 to conduct real estate rental business and others.
Meanwhile, T1 will play the final game against Weibo Gaming (WBG) at Guro-gu Gocheok Sky Dome in Seoul on the 19th. This is the first time WBG has reached the World Cup finals since the team was founded.
