On the 22nd (local time), Jens Stoltenberg, Secretary General of the North Atlantic Treaty Organization (NATO), strongly condemned North Korea’s military satellite launch using ballistic missile technology, which violates numerous United Nations Security Council resolutions.
Secretary General Stoltenberg released a statement that day criticizing North Korea’s military reconnaissance satellite launch, stating, “This escalates tensions and poses a serious threat to regional and international security.”
He added, “North Korea must stop its reckless behavior, dismantle its nuclear and ballistic missile programs, and engage in good-faith diplomacy. NATO stands in solidarity with its partners in the Asia-Pacific region, including South Korea, Japan, Australia, and New Zealand.”
North Korea announced on the 22nd that it successfully launched the military reconnaissance satellite ‘Mallige-1’ at 10:42 pm on the 21st and entered orbit.
