BTS All Members Enlisted: Filling the Void with New Music and Content Releases

Daniel Kim Views

All members of the group BTS, currently serving their mandatory military service are comforting their fans with pre-recorded content.

On the 26th, a video from member Suga’s self-produced content, ‘Shuga’s Tea Time,’ was posted on BTS’s official YouTube channel. Suga invited his close friend singer IU as a guest and shared stories that fans were curious about.

What drew more attention was that this content was pre-recorded before Suga began his military service on September 22. Suga has been releasing content featuring guests like Taemin, Uhm Jung-hwa, and Jungkook in sequence thus staying connected with fans.

Jimin who enlisted on the 12th gifted fans with a surprise song. On the 22nd Jimin released ‘Closer Than This’ a fan song expressing his sincere feelings towards the Army (fan club name) which served as a comforting Christmas gift for fans. The song made a strong impression by dominating major global charts for two consecutive days after its release even surpassing mega-hit Christmas carols.

V who enlisted on the 11th also announced his participation in a new song by American singer-songwriter UMI. UMI announced the release of ‘wherever u r’ on the 30th as a gift from herself and V. As V’s birthday is on December 30th, he is expected to fill his absence by releasing a new song featuring him on the same day.

Jungkook released a solo album before his enlistment and continued to make his presence feel real even after entering the military with ‘Standing Next to You’ making a comeback on the UK charts. RM also stirred anticipation among fans by immersing himself in music production up until his enlistment while Jin and J-Hope wisely filled their military hiatus by pre-recording their content and releasing albums.

All members of BTS the representative of K-pop boasting global popularity are currently fulfilling their military duties. However, their active endeavors make the military hiatus seem insignificant heightening the anticipation for their full-group activities once they reunite.
