Netflix CEO, President Yoon, and Lee Jung Jae Gather for ‘Squid Game 2’

Actor Lee Jung Jae had a luncheon with President Yoon Suk Yeol and the co-CEO of Netflix.

President Yun Suk Yeol hosted Netflix co-CEO Ted Serandos and actor Lee Jung Jae for a luncheon at his official residence in Hannam Dong, Seoul, on Sunday, presidential office spokesman Kim Soo Kyung said in a written briefing.

After announcing Netflix’s investment in Korea last year, Sarandos shared the progress with President Yoon. President Yoon expressed his gratitude for Netflix’s rapid and substantial investment and requested continued investment in K-content.

Sarandos met President Yoon at Blair House in Washington DC during his state visit to the United States on April 24th last year. He announced that he would invest about 3.3 trillion won(2.5 billion dollars) in Korea over the next four years.

Spokesperson Kim said President Yoon and Sarandos discussed the development of the Korea-US cultural alliance through the combination of Korean content and the American global platform.

Sarandos visited Korea for the first time in eight months on the 16th, where he had a dialogue with Netflix Seoul employees, a press conference with reporters, visited a visual special effects subsidiary, and visited the set of Squid Game Season 2.

“I’m looking forward to seeing what director Hwang Dong Hyuk can do to take the story to new heights,” he said of the highly anticipated second season of The Squid Game, “and I think it’s going to be a hit around the world.”

Squid Game is a Netflix series that tells the story of people participating in a mysterious survival game with a prize of 45.6 billion won at stake, striving to become the ultimate winner in a life-or-death game. Lee Jung Jae continues his passionate performance as Gi Hun in Season 2, following Season 1.

Lee Jung Jae, Lee Byung Hun, Wi Ha Jun, Gong Yoo, Im Si Wan, Kang Ha Neul, Park Gyu Young, Lee Jin Wook, Park Sung Hoon, Yang Dong Geun, Kang Ae Shim, Lee Da Wit, Choi Seung Hyun(former Big Bang member TOP), No Jae Won, Jo Yu Ri, and Won Ji An are among the solid cast that has joined, raising expectations. It will be released in 2024.
