TIME, a U.S. weekly news magazine, has named figures ranging from former and current presidents to artificial intelligence (AI) and electric vehicle industry leaders among the 100 Most Influential People of 2024 (hereafter, TIME 100).

On the 17th (local time), TIME selected Yulia Navalnaya, the widow of the recently deceased Russian opposition activist Alexei Navalny, as one of the leaders in the TIME 100 list.

U.S. Vice President Kamala Harris praised Navalnaya in her recommendation: “Navalnaya showed great courage in denouncing the lies and brutality of the Russian government” and “gave new hope to those working against corruption and for a free and democratic Russia.”

Also on the list of influential leaders is E. Jean Carroll, a fashion columnist who sued former President Donald Trump over defamation regarding sexual assault and successfully won the lawsuit.

Leaders driving the next-generation industries of AI and electric vehicles also made it to the list.

Jensen Huang, CEO of Nvidia, was recognized as an influential figure in the Innovators category. Mark Zuckerberg, CEO of Meta, who recommended Huang, praised him, saying, “Huang is a definite leader in the tech industry” and “most AI models today, from large-scale language models to autonomous driving systems to applications in the fields of science and medicine, are trained on Nvidia hardware.”

Other tech figures named to the TIME 100 include Satya Nadella, CEO of Microsoft, who was named in the Titans category. Wang Chuanfu, chairman of the rising Chinese electric vehicle company BYD, also made it to the same category, drawing attention.

Since 2004, TIME has annually selected and announced 100 individuals and organizations that have made a noticeable positive or negative change in the world.
