wikitree Views

A Russian diplomat who caused a car accident refused to take a breathalyzer test despite reeking of alcohol.

Seoul Namdaemun Police Station reported on the 21st that a Russian diplomat got into a car accident with another vehicle around 8:50 PM on the 20th in Seosomun-dong, Jung-gu. The police noticed his alcoholic breath and attempted to administer a breathalyzer test. However, he did not comply. Due to his diplomatic immunity, he was not arrested on the spot. The police are discussing whether to charge the diplomat with Driving Under the Influence (DUI).

Drunk driving incidents seem to have become common recently. On the 21st, in Cheongju City, a car driven by a man in his 20s hit a crosswalk around 3:34 AM in Seokgyo-dong, Sangdang-gu.

After the accident, the car crossed the center line and crashed into a vehicle from the opposite lane. A 60-year-old bicyclist was taken to the hospital in cardiac arrest but unfortunately passed away. Everyone involved in the accident was injured and is currently receiving treatment at the hospital. According to police investigations, the driver’s blood alcohol content was 0.098%, which warrants license revocation.

In February, DJ Ye Song caused a fatal accident in Gangnam, Seoul, when he hit a motorcycle deliveryman while drunk driving. He has a history of drunk driving and was fleeing the scene after the accident.

DJ Ye Song failed to administer proper first aid and was holding his pet the whole time. Online users were outraged by his irresponsible attitude. His blood alcohol content was 0.221%, a level that warrants license revocation.
