Biden, Trump Neck and Neck in Crucial Battlegrounds

Daniel Kim Views

Support for President Joe Biden and former President Donald Trump appears to be in a dead heat. On the 25th, the New York Times (NYT) reported that the average support for both candidates was 46%. The NYT calculates an average from multiple polls because individual polls can be small and have a wide margin of error.

NYT reported that Trump has led in average support rates for the past nine months, but this gap has narrowed significantly since his New Year’s address and the nomination in March. While Trump still leads in the seven key battleground states crucial for the election, his margin is slim.

It also noted that this poll’s competition is tighter than in the last 20 years. They mentioned that considering the margin of error, there’s a possibility that Biden could win if the election were held today, as neither candidate has a clear lead in the battleground states.

Meanwhile, the first TV debate is scheduled for 9 p.m. on the 27th. This debate is predicted to influence the close race. The discussion will occur without an audience at CNN’s studio in Atlanta, Georgia.
