North Korea Could Drop a Nuke Test Bomb During U.S. Election Season, Warns South Korea

South Korea’s presidential office addressed concerns about North Korea’s potential seventh nuclear test, suggesting that the timing could “coincide with the period around the U.S. presidential election.”

Shin appeared on Yonhap News TV on Monday and responded to questions about North Korea’s nuclear test possibilities, stating, “North Korea can carry out its seventh nuclear test anytime Kim Jong Un decides to.”

He further explained that North Korea will weigh strategic advantages and disadvantages in its decision and that the timing could align with the U.S. presidential election.

Shin reassured that the U.S. and South Korea are closely monitoring the possibility of North Korea’s nuclear tests, adding that North Korea can proceed with the test at any moment, depending on Kim Jong Un’s decision.
