Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskyy has confirmed that North Korean troops are now actively supporting Russia in its ongoing war effort. Speaking to Ukraine’s parliament on Wednesday, Zelenskyy stated, “North Korea is providing soldiers to assist the Russian military and sending workers to Russian factories to replace those who have died in the war.”

Zelenskyy explained that this information was confirmed through intelligence agencies. He added that North Korea is now becoming the second country to side with Russia and participate in the war in Ukraine, stating, “North Korea is part of the criminal coalition with Putin.”

This follows a report from Ukrainian news outlet Kyiv Post, which cited sources claiming that a battalion of 3,000 North Korean soldiers has been established in Russia. The outlet claimed that North Korea is providing large-scale support not only in weapons and military equipment but also in personnel. According to the report, Russia is experiencing a severe shortage of troops, and Russian President Vladimir Putin is doing everything possible to delay a new mobilization order.

Zelenskyy also revealed a five-point plan to secure Ukraine’s victory. The key elements are an invitation to join the North Atlantic Treaty Organization (NATO), lifting restrictions on using long-range missiles, a comprehensive nuclear deterrence package, strengthening economic security, including natural resources, and enhancing Ukraine’s military post-war.

“If we start moving according to this victory plan now, it may be possible to end the war no later than next year,” Zelenskyy said.

However, Kremlin spokesperson Dmitry Peskov rejected Zelenskyy’s plan, stating that Ukraine must recognize such proposals’ futility and consider the ongoing conflict’s root causes.
