North Korean Flag in Ukraine? Ukraine Denies Authenticity, Calls It Propaganda

A photo showing a North Korean flag planted in the battleground between Russia and Ukraine has sparked controversy, with Ukraine claiming the image was manipulated.

According to Kyiv Post, Russia released a photo on Monday showing both the Russian flag and the North Korean flag planted side by side in the Pokrovsk area of eastern Ukraine’s Donetsk region, which Russia captured after a prolonged battle. The Ukrainian government, however, stated that the photo likely was fabricated, with officials calling it mere “propaganda.”

Andriy Kovalenko, head of the disinformation response center within Ukraine’s Defense Ministry, claimed that Russia is using North Korea to spread misleading information. He explained, “Russia is distorting the actual number of North Korean troops deployed, which is around 12,000, and inflating this figure to suggest there are hundreds of thousands. They will continue circulating manipulated flag images to reinforce their narrative.”

However, Radio Free Asia (RFA) presented an alternative view, suggesting the photo might be authentic. RFA acknowledged the difficulty in verifying the image’s legitimacy but pointed out that videos of North Korean soldiers linked to Russian deployments have surfaced, and North Korean troops have reportedly been seen multiple times at the Pokrovsk front. Despite the ongoing propaganda efforts, some have believed there may be some truth to the image.

The bear could not do war on its own. No surprise here, as we saw the two kings ride together in a limousine in July. "And as the toes of the feet were part of iron, and part of clay, so the kingdom shall be partly strong, and partly broken."
