The Russian ambassador to North Korea, Alexander Matsegora, hosted a banquet to commemorate the ratification of the Treaty on Comprehensive Partnership between North Korea and Russia.
Rodong Sinmun reported on Wednesday that the event hosted just a day before the report was attended by high-ranking North Korean officials, including Choe Ryong Hae, Chairman of the Standing Committee of the Supreme People’s Assembly; Ri Il Hwan, Party Secretary; Choe Son Hui, Foreign Minister; Jong Kyung Taek, General Political Bureau Director; and Kim Yo Jong, Deputy Director of the Central Committee.
During his speech, Matsegora stated, “Following the new treaty, we will support each other and implement mutually beneficial cooperation in all areas such as politics, economy, culture, and military.”
“The entry into force of the new treaty between the Russian Federation and the Democratic People’s Republic of Korea brings joy to our allies and instills anxiety and fear in our adversaries.”
Foreign Minister Choe remarked, “The treaty’s ratification serves as a driving force to realize the grand vision of both countries’ national leadership and the aspirations of their peoples.”
North Korean leader Kim Jong Un and Russian President Vladimir Putin signed the recently ratified Treaty on Comprehensive Partnership in June.
