A Chinese tourist has been apprehended for using a drone to film Jeju International Airport without authorization.

On Friday, the Jeju Police Agency announced that it had apprehended a Chinese tourist on charges of violating the Aviation Safety Act and is investigating the matter.

The suspect is accused of launching an unauthorized drone to film the airport on December 31 from approximately 2 kilometers outside the Jeju Airport runway.

Jeju Airport, designated as a high-security national facility, prohibits drone flights within a 9.3-kilometer radius. The police investigate this Chinese individual for potential links to terrorism or espionage.

Meanwhile, an unauthorized drone was discovered at Jeju Airport last year, suspending flight operations and disrupting airport management.
