ZUNYI, China, July 15, 2025 /PRNewswire/ — The China’s Development, An Opportunity for a Colorful World International Exchange Week launched today in Zunyi, Guizhou Province. Under the theme “High-Level Opening-Up Leads High-Quality Development of Distinctive Industries,” the event drew over 200 participants from more than 30 countries. Diplomats, scholars, international influencers, students, and business representatives converged to witness firsthand the growth of Guizhou’s unique industries.
David Blair, Senior Economist and Vice President of the Center for China and Globalization (CCG), stressed the importance of diverse, locally-rooted development models in creating a vibrant global economy. He argued that such approaches ensure prosperity reaches all regions and social groups. Blair noted China’s significant progress in economic transformation and suggested that, with appropriate policy support, Zunyi could become a model for achieving a higher quality of life through dynamic local productivity and shared prosperity initiatives.

Einar Tangen, Senior Fellow at the Taihe Institute and an expert in international politics and finance, highlighted the role of cultural exchange in driving trade. He pointed out that cultural industries, such as batik, village soccer matches, and Dong Grand Songs, contribute 10 percent to Guizhou’s tourism-driven economic growth. Tangen illustrated the global interconnectedness of trade with examples: Thai silk reaching Guizhou via Ninja Van, Uzbek companies using Payme for transactions, and Kenyan artisans integrating M-Pesa. These connections, supported by shared tourism data and smart digital development, demonstrate how mutual learning fosters trade and contributes to international peace.

The event saw the launch of the Chinese Quality Products Global Promotion Initiative (Zunyi) by Xufang International Media, CICG, and the Trade Promotion and Exchange Center of the China Council for the Promotion of International Trade. The Chinese Quality Products Zunyi Exhibition showcased local specialties and intangible cultural heritage products from Zunyi. These included Meitan Cuiya, Zunyi chili peppers, Moutai, Kweichow Zhen, bamboo weaving, and embroidery. Ambassadors and international influencers at the event used live streaming on social media platforms to share Zunyi’s quality products with a global audience.
