Shinhan Bank announced Friday that it will launch Sunday operations at three of its branches — Dongdaemun, Suwon Station and Onyang Banking Center — beginning July 20, in an effort to better serve foreign residents in South Korea.
This initiative aims to accommodate foreign workers and residents who find it challenging to visit banks during regular weekday hours. The selected branches will be open every Sunday from 10 a.m. to 3 p.m., offering a range of services including account openings, debit card registration, internet banking setup, and international transactions. To further assist customers, dedicated interpreters will be on hand.
Shinhan Bank selected these three branches based on several factors, including the size of the local foreign population, foot traffic, and accessibility. The bank prioritized areas where access to financial services has been traditionally limited.
“This new schedule allows foreign customers who can’t visit during the workweek to access financial services more conveniently on weekends,” a Shinhan Bank spokesperson explained. “We’re planning to expand our tailored banking channels to make everyday financial services more accessible and user-friendly for foreign residents living in Korea.”
Shinhan Bank already operates branches specifically catering to foreign nationals in Gimhae, South Gyeongsang Province, and in the Doksan-dong area of Seoul. The bank is also set to open another branch in Ansan, Gyeonggi Province, this August.
