A man has shared his distress after his girlfriend, who he is considering marrying, suggested using a sperm bank to conceive a child due to concerns about his short height potentially being passed on to their offspring. The story has sparked a heated debate among netizens.

On the 3rd, a post titled “My girlfriend wants to use a sperm bank because of my height” on the anonymous office worker community Blind has been receiving attention.

The man shared, “While discussing marriage with my girlfriend, I mentioned that I want to buy a large SUV and go on family trips when we have a child.”

He further added, “My girlfriend loves children and believes in the importance of having them. She also said she wants to start a family with me.”

However, she said something unexpected and stated she did not want their child to be “short.”

The man stated that he is 5’3″ tall, and his girlfriend is 5’4″.

He explained, “My girlfriend shared her concerns about the challenges associated with being short and suggested alternatives, such as using a sperm bank or considering adoption.”

He added, “I have suffered a lot of stress due to my short height. My girlfriend said that even if we were lucky, our child would likely be short and she doesn’t want to leave the fate of our beloved child to luck.”

Upon hearing his girlfriend’s thoughts, the man was shocked and could not counter her argument because he thought she had a point. He confessed that he had been unable to sleep at night.

Netizens who came across the story reacted with comments saying, “Genetic influence can’t be ignored, but a sperm bank? That’s a hurtful thing to say.” On the other hand, some comments seemed to empathize with the girlfriend’s point of view, such as “I understand where the girlfriend is coming from,” and “It’s natural not to want to pass on the bad traits.”
