Nvidia is investing in the development of AI in Indonesia in collaboration with Indonesian telecom company PT Indosat.

On the 4th (local time), the Indonesian Minister of Communications announced that Nvidia and Indosat planned to build a $200 million AI center in Central Java, Indonesia, by 2024.

Indonesian Minister of Communication and Information Technology Budi Arie Setiadi stated in a press release that the AI center, which will be located in Surakarta City, could be structured as a telecommunications infrastructure or a human resource center.

In addition, Vikram Sinha, the CEO of Indosat, provided information on the investment plan to Gibran Rakabuming Raka, the Mayor of Surakarta and the son of Indonesia’s current President and Vice President-elect, Joko Widodo.

Sinha stated, “Surakarta is ready and equipped with good human resources and 5G infrastructure.”

However, Nvidia and Indosat did not respond to requests for confirmation of the related facts.
