Hotels in New York City, often referred to as “the city that never sleeps,” are making headlines with their new accommodation packages designed to promote deep sleep.

According to the New York Post, more hotels are introducing Sleep Tourism packages to promote restful sleep. HTF market research forecasts that the sleep tourism package market will expand by over $400 billion by 2028.

The Hilton’s 2024 Trends Report states, “An increasing number of customers plan their trips with the aim of relaxation and recharging to alleviate accumulated fatigue.” Hotels, reflecting this trend, offer innovative services and amenities beyond the usual cozy bedding and blackout curtains.

The Equinox Hotel has launched The Art+Science of Sleep package to attract customers. Those who purchase this package can enjoy bone broth dishes that help good sleep and charcoal lattes served at bedtime. The hotel also provides beds with an automatically adjustable temperature and tables emitting white noise. A hotel spokesperson said, “By modulating neurotransmitters, you can experience the effect of feeling as if you’ve slept for three hours, even if you’ve only slept for 30 minutes.”

The Park Hyatt New York has introduced smart beds that automatically adjust the cushion’s firmness according to the guests’ physical condition, ensuring they don’t wake up quickly. The Conrad New York Downtown offers the Goodnight Conrad package, which includes amenities from the luxury perfume brand Byredo.

Dr. Whitney Roban, a sleep scholar, highlighted the importance of quality rest for contemporary individuals. She noted that while engaging in various activities and attending parties can be enjoyable, people need rest. Dr. Roban added that the quality of sleep guests experience at a hotel can be a decisive factor in whether they choose to return.
