THIS Dog Just Took Home the Title of Ugliest Dog—See Why!

An eight-year-old Pekingese won this year’s World’s Ugliest Dog competition in the United States.

According to The Guardian, the event occurred in Petaluma, California, with eight dogs competing for the title.

The winner, Wild Thang, was diagnosed with canine distemper at just ten weeks old. This illness stunted the growth of his teeth and caused a muscular disorder in one of his legs. As a result of his inability to grow teeth, his pink tongue permanently hangs out of his mouth.

Thang’s victory came after five attempts. His thin, long, curly hair and protruding tongue were cited as his charming features. He also won a prize of $5,000 and the opportunity to appear on an NBC television program.

This event, held annually for nearly 50 years, promotes animal love and encourages the adoption of senior dogs.

Meanwhile, most of the eight dogs in this year’s competition were rescued from shelters before adoption. Among them, a 14-year-old Pug in a wheelchair took second place, earning a $3,000 prize, while a 14-year-old rescue dog came in third, winning $2,000.
