New Orleans ranked second. The average cost of a hotel room in New Orleans is $390 per night. Orlando, known for its Walt Disney theme parks and numerous lakes, secured the third spot.

Kevin Heery, Chief Product Officer at Priceline, noted that the average hotel room cost in Orlando is currently $213 per night, with Chicago and New York City following at averages of $249 and $263 per night, respectively. He explained that while beach destinations were the most popular over the past two years, this summer marks a return to major cities. Heery highlighted that travelers are eager to return to metropolitan areas like Las Vegas, Chicago, and New York to enjoy the culture, entertainment, and culinary offerings.

According to Priceline, as of July 4, 2022, the average hotel rate increased by 18% compared to the same period in 2021. Round-trip by air within the United States in 2022 also increased by 32% from 2021.
