Why You’ll Never See Trash at Disneyland: The 30-Foot Rule

Daniel Kim Views

At Disneyland, you can find a trash can every 29.5 feet.

Walt Disney measured the minimum distance people would carry their trash before dropping it on the ground: 29.5 feet. Despite an average of 52 million visitors each year, no janitor hauling trash can be observed at Disneyland—the secret lies in Disneyland’s Automated Vacuum Assisted Collection System (AVACS. The system transports all the garbage from the surface-level trash cans to the underground waste processing facility at 34.8 miles per hour.

Travel and Leisure recently shared some essential tips for anyone planning a magical trip to Disneyland. Here’s what you need to know:

1. Ticket Pricing

It pays to stay longer at Disneyland. While a single-day ticket costs approximately $120, a seven-day pass is priced around $510, averaging about $73 per day. This makes longer stays significantly more economical.

2. Rider Switch Service

Disneyland offers a convenient service called Rider Switch for visitors traveling with someone unable or unwilling to ride an attraction due to height restrictions or personal preference. This service allows part of your group to enjoy the ride while the other part waits with the non-rider, then switch without having to queue again. This service also extends to visitors with disabilities.

3. Disability Access Service (DAS)

For those who find it challenging to wait in traditional lines, Disneyland’s DAS allows visitors to return to rides at designated times with a DAS ticket. However, it’s important to note that this service does not extend to guests with mobility issues, such as wheelchairs.

4. Weather Preparedness

Be ready for Florida’s unpredictable summer weather. Carry an umbrella or raincoat to shield yourself from sudden storms. Despite the rain, don’t forget sunblock and sunglasses. Florida’s sun can be intense, and UV rays can penetrate even on cloudy days due to reflection on the clouds.

Fourth of all, save the hassle of buying water. At Disneyland and Disney World restaurants, a free cup of water is provided whenever visitors demand. Fifth, there’s also an excellent tip for those celebrating special occasions at Disneyland. You can receive a free celebration pin if you tell the front desk or other staff that it’s your birthday, engagement, or honeymoon. If lucky, staff may see your pin and offer free desserts or drinks.

Furthermore, if you’re staying at the Grand Floridian Resort in Disneyland, you can enjoy a fantastic spa experience. The Grand Floridian Spa offers massages in a serene garden atmosphere. The Just the Two of Us package, which includes a couple’s massage and pedicure, is $260 per person.
