wikitree Views

Corn is a favorite summer snack, beloved for its satisfying crunch when the kernels pop. It’s delicious on its own, but with the proper storage techniques, you can keep it fresh for a long time. Here are four methods to ensure your summer corn stays tasty.

First, store the corn in the refrigerator. After washing and removing the husk, place the corn in a plastic bag or airtight container and store it in the fridge. The freshness will be maintained for up to five days, as the adequate temperature in the refrigerator helps prevent the corn from spoiling and retains its taste and nutrition for longer.

Second, store the corn in the freezer. After washing and husking, cut it into pieces and place it in a plastic bag or a freezer pack. The corn can stay fresh for up to a year if stored in the freezer. This method is beneficial when you want to store corn for an extended period.

Third, store the corn at room temperature. However, this is not recommended as the corn’s freshness decreases within 2-3 days. However, the corn may stay fresh for about a week unless the husk is removed.

The fourth and final method is to dry and store the corn. After washing and husking, slice it thinly and dry it in the shade. Dried corn can stay fresh for up to a year when stored in an airtight container or ziplock bag in a cool place. This method is ideal for the long-term storage of corn.

As you can see, there are various ways to keep your summer corn tasty. Choose the best method that fits your situation and keep your corn fresh for a long time.
