An Apple a Day: Surprising Health Perks You Didn’t Know About

wikitree Views

Apples are the most familiar fruits, yet many are unaware of a single apple’s incredible health benefits and properties. Let’s uncover the surprising advantages of this everyday fruit.

Apple flavonoids and pectin play key roles in cancer prevention and weight control. Pregnant women who include apples in their diets may help prevent asthma in their unborn children.

The pectin in apples, a type of dietary fiber, is highly effective in alleviating constipation. Eating an apple before breakfast can stimulate bowel movements, offering a natural alternative to laxatives that help constipation and diarrhea.

Moreover, apples have been shown to reduce the risk of breast and colorectal cancers. In a study by researchers at Cornell University, lab rats that consumed apple extracts had a lower incidence of breast cancer.

Research also suggests that children of women who consume a lot of apples during pregnancy have a 50% lower prevalence of asthma.

A team from the University of Aberdeen analyzed the diets of 2,000 women with children over five and their children’s health, supporting these findings. The antioxidants in apples help eliminate harmful oxygen, benefiting lung health.

Moreover, apples are effective for skin whitening and anti-aging. According to a research team from a British food institute, apples contain up to five times more polyphenols compared to other fruits.

These polyphenols provide antioxidant, anti-cancer, whitening, and anti-aging benefits while helping lower cholesterol levels.

Apples are also effective for weight loss. Researchers from Penn State University found that eating an apple 15 minutes before a meal can promote a sense of fullness, leading to reduced food intake. In their study, participants who ate apples consumed about 15% fewer calories.

Apple cider vinegar offers beneficial health effects. It helps maintain the body’s alkaline balance, supports digestion, assists in weight management, and protects skin health.

The potassium in apple cider vinegar is a natural detoxifier, while malic acid treats constipation and digestive issues. Furthermore, it helps regulate blood sugar levels and lower cholesterol.

Apple cider vinegar also strengthens bones and teeth and can effectively relieve joint pain.

Its antioxidant and anti-inflammatory properties relieve joint pains, including arthritis, and support weight loss by promoting a feeling of fullness. Some studies even suggest that acetic acid in apple cider vinegar may slow fat accumulation.

Apple cider vinegar is also a versatile skincare ingredient. Its antibacterial and anti-inflammatory properties make it an effective toner for treating acne and blemishes.

After sun exposure, mixing a cup of apple cider vinegar into your bath can enhance your skin’s glow. Adding a few drops to your shampoo can add shine to your hair. It also acts as a disinfectant, soothing the skin and quickly treating allergic reactions when you get bitten by insects.
