Dubai to Build Giant Moon Resort, Bringing Space Tourism to Everyone

Daniel Kim Views

Imagine being able to experience a taste of space without breaking the bank. By 2027, that dream may become a reality in the United Arab Emirates (UAE) by constructing a stunning moon-shaped luxury resort in Dubai: the Moon World Resort. This ambitious project will feature a colossal dome standing 224 meters tall and stretching 617 meters in circumference—roughly half the size of Seoul’s iconic Lotte World Tower. Construction is set to take about 48 months.

The resort’s design sketches promise to replicate the moon as closely as possible. Its exterior will showcase the moon’s craters and unique textures, while the interior will boast a spaceship-shaped club lounge. Guests will have the chance to stroll on a simulated lunar surface, offering a taste of the cosmic experience without the astronomical price tag of an actual space trip. The resort’s space tourism program is projected to cost just $500, a fraction of the $450,000 typically required for a real space journey.

Michael R. Henderson, co-founder of the Moon World Resort, has shared exciting plans for the facility. In addition to the lunar-themed attractions, the resort will include a convention center, upscale restaurants, and a spa—ensuring guests enjoy every moment of their stay. Co-founder Sandra G. Matthews noted that they are actively working with engineers and architects to address any technical challenges that arise during development.

Henderson mentioned that they need a $5 billion investment for construction and hope to secure the investment by the end of this year. The Moon World Resort is expected to attract up to 10 million visitors annually. Its long-term goal is to build resorts in Asia, Europe, North America, the Middle East, and North Africa.
