Born in 1919, She Toasts to 105 Years with Guinness and Skipping Marriage

The New York Post shared the story of Kathleen Hennings, a 105-year-old woman living in England. She lives in a nursing home in Cheltenham, Gloucestershire, and celebrated her 105th birthday on October 2. Her two secrets to longevity are to “Drink Guinness and don’t marry.” Guinness is her favorite drink, and to celebrate her milestone birthday, the beer brand Stout gifted her a package of Guinness, chocolate, and an apron.

Born in Brixton, England, in 1919, Hennings worked as an accountant for many years and lived in London until the end of World War II. In 1965, she opted for a quieter life in the countryside, moving to the Cotswolds in Gloucestershire with her mother, brother, and pet dog. “It was wonderful to see Kathleen surrounded by all her loved ones to commemorate such an incredible milestone,” said Malaika Charles, Home Manager at Sandfields.
