In Columbus Circle, New York City, a unique exhibition featuring Barbie dolls as the main attraction has been the talk of the town.

According to international media outlets like Timeout, the Barbie franchise launched the Barbie Day exhibition on October 19 to celebrate its 65th anniversary. Visitors can explore 250 vintage Barbie dolls at the exhibition, and one section will showcase life-sized recreations of Barbie’s diverse wardrobe.

Since Barbie’s debut on March 9, 1959, the doll has become a beloved cultural icon, often called America’s “national doll.” This exhibition brings together a vast collection of Barbie dolls and accessories, appealing to fans, young and old. Attendees can witness how Barbie’s look—her body shape, wardrobe, and hairstyles—captures evolving American fashion and societal trends across the decades. The showcase of diverse ethnic Barbies, a milestone introduced in the 2000s, highlights the influence of social movements, particularly the civil rights movement.

Adding to the excitement, a life-sized version of Barbie’s classic convertible sports car invites visitors to step in for an iconic photo op. Free admission is available for guests under 19, increasing the exhibition’s popularity among younger fans. The Barbie Day Exhibition is open until March 16, 2025.
