Brisbane kicked off the holiday season in style on November 29 with a jaw-dropping 72-foot (22-meter) Christmas tree lighting up King George Square. Get ready for a nightly spectacle at the Brisbane City Hall clock tower, where a dazzling 15-minute light and sound show will run every evening at 7:30 PM until Christmas Eve.

Queensland hosts a variety of festivals during the Christmas season. Music lovers should not miss the Woodford Folk Festival, a six-day extravaganza from late December to early January that draws over 120,000 visitors to Brisbane’s suburbs. With world-class musicians, up-and-coming artists, workshops, films, and kid-friendly programs, it’s the perfect holiday treat for families and friends.

For a truly magical experience, head to the Boulders & Badlands Mini Golf Course in Parkwood Village on the Gold Coast. From mid-November to early January, it transforms into a twinkling Christmas Wonderland with enchanting character decorations. One of the highlights is Santa’s Putt Putt, a mini-golf game open to everyone aged 5 and up, making it a popular choice for families.

If you want to add a winter vibe to your warm Australian Christmas, Warner Bros. Movie World has you covered. Throughout December, the theme park becomes a winter wonderland with artificial snow, exciting events, and fun and thrilling 4D experiences.

No December is complete without a festive Christmas market, and the Gold Coast doesn’t disappoint. Mark your calendars for December 20-22, when Broadwater Parklands hosts the area’s biggest Christmas market. Explore a wide range of handcrafted goods, cute accessories, and delicious seasonal treats while soaking in the festive atmosphere.
