South Korean shooting national team member Kim Yeji has received global attention, including praise from Tesla CEO Elon Musk. Kim showcased exceptional skills at the 2024 Paris Olympics. Her unique personality impressed many as well.

On Monday, Kim Yeji won a silver medal in the women’s 10-meter air pistol event at the shooting center in Châteauroux, France, following gold medalist Oh Yejin.

In May, she set a world record at the ISSF World Cup 25-meter pistol event in Baku, Azerbaijan, where another South Korean athlete, Yang Jiin, secured the silver medal. This marked the first time in South Korean history that athletes swept the top two spots in an international shooting competition. Kim continued her exceptional performance by delivering impressive results at the Paris Olympics two months later.

Kim’s record-setting moment became a popular topic on X. In the video, she sports her cap backward, checks the target with a severe demeanor after firing her last shot, and inspects the pistol. Despite setting a world record, her cold expression left many with the impression of a warrior woman. Global fans on X showed unwavering support for her competitions.

Kim’s daily life outside of practice has also gained significant attention. Photos of her carrying an elephant plushie to the shooting range have left positive impressions on fans. Many have found it hard to hide their smiles as they witness her unexpected charm.

Elon Musk expressed massive support for Kim’s impressive performance on X. He wrote, “Would be cool to have a shooting world champion in an action movie.” He added, “She should be cast in an action movie. No acting required!” highlighting his high regard for her talent. Musk’s posts further boosted Kim’s popularity.

Kim Yeji and Yang Jiin are strong candidates for the gold medal in the women’s 25-meter pistol event at the Paris Olympics. The main rounds will happen on the 2nd of next month, followed by the finals on the 3rd. People are excited for their performances, especially for the “warrior” Kim.
