China’s New Energy Vehicle Market Gears Up for 32% Sales Increase in October

The wholesale sales of new energy vehicles in China’s market for October are estimated to have increased by 32% compared to the same period last year, reaching 890,000 units. The China Passenger Car Association revealed that 17 manufacturers, each with wholesale sales of new energy vehicles of over 10,000 units in September, accounted for 88.4% of the total wholesale sales. The expected sales volume of these auto companies for October was 787,000 units, but the wholesale sales of new energy vehicles are anticipated to reach 890,000 units.

From January to October, the wholesale sales of new energy passenger vehicles in China were tentatively estimated at 6.8 million units, a 36% increase from last year. New energy vehicles in China include battery electric vehicles, plug-in hybrid electric vehicles, and fuel cell electric vehicles, excluding hybrid electric vehicles.

At the end of last year, the China Passenger Car Association predicted this year’s sales of new energy passenger vehicles in China to be 8.5 million units, which accounts for 36% of the total passenger car sales of 23.5 million units.
