According to Axios, President Joe Biden criticized the federal Supreme Court for overturning the “Roe v. Wade” ruling that recognized women’s abortion rights up to six months of pregnancy, on the 9th (local time).

During an interview with MSNBC that day, President Biden expressed his disagreement with the decision to abolish the related law, stating, “I believe the court’s decision was a mistake, it was wrong. I think the Supreme Court misinterpreted the Constitution.”

Biden is expected to criticize the Supreme Court, the highest judicial institution in the U.S., just two days after his last State of the Union Address during his presidency.

The overturning of the Roe v. Wade ruling is interpreted as a result of the federal Supreme Court’s rapid reorganization to a conservative majority due to successive conservative Supreme Court nominations by then-President Donald Trump during the Trump administration.

Biden also emphasized, “My remarks this time are to emphasize women’s voting rights,” and “If the Democratic Party seizes Congress, we will restore the ‘Roe v. Wade’ ruling.”

During his State of the Union address, he said, “If Americans send me a Congress that supports the right to choose, I promise you, I will restore Roe v. Wade as the law of the land again.”

In response to a question about whether there is a “red line” that Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu should not cross, such as invading Rafah in the southern Gaza Strip, where the majority of refugees are concentrated in the war between Israel and the Palestinian armed group Hamas, he said, “It is a red line, but I’m never going to leave Israel,” and “The defense of Israel is still critical.”
