North Korea Takes Aim at UK’s Stance on Ukraine-Russia Crisis

North Korean authorities have criticized comments by the British Foreign Secretary that Ukraine could attack mainland Russia with British-backed weapons. The comments come as the two countries flaunt their close relationship following the North Korea-Russia summit in September last year.

According to the Korean Central News Agency on the 6th, international affairs commentator Sim Min reported the full text of a critique against British Foreign Secretary David Cameron: “The UK is driving the European continent deeper into the fury of war.”

Sim Min took issue with remarks made by Secretary Cameron during an interview with Reuters on his recent visit to Kyiv, Ukraine, stating that Ukraine has the right to use weapons supported by the UK to strike targets within Russia.

He also claimed that Secretary Cameron’s remarks were “belligerent,” asserting that it was a desperate attempt to “rectify the deteriorating war situation in Ukraine.”

He added that Secretary Cameron had traveled to Washington before he visited Kyiv, suggesting that the influence of the American superiors may be highly likely to have had a significant impact.

He pointed out, “This could dangerously spark the flames of war in Ukraine, spreading to the territory of Russia and then spilling over into Europe.”
