During a festival commemorating the emancipation of enslaved people at a park in Texas, a shooting broke out, killing two people and injuring at least six others, including children.

According to AP and CNN, on the 16th, a shooting occurred during a Juneteenth event at a park located in Round Rock, a city about 19 miles north of Austin, Texas.

Local police reported that two people were shot dead at the scene, and several others were wounded.

While the police did not disclose the number of injured, according to a post on social media by local fire authorities, four adults and two children were transported to local trauma facilities.

The police explained that the shooting erupted after an argument broke out between two groups at the event. However, they stated that the two people killed in the shooting did not have a connection with the altercation.

Round Rock Police Chief Allen Banks expressed his sorrow, stating, “It breaks your heart for a family that was coming out to enjoy their evening, and now their life is forever changed as a result of somebody who could care less about somebody else’s life.”

No murder suspects have been arrested so far, and the police are still unable to determine how many shooters were involved.
