Putin’s Secret Family: Report Claims Russian Leader Has Two Sons with Gymnast Lover

Daniel Kim Views

Recent reports have intensified speculation about Russian President Vladimir Putin’s personal life. They claim he has two sons with former gymnast Alina Kabaeva, a revelation that has captured significant attention.

On Wednesday, The Times and The Sun published details from the Dossier Center, an investigative organization led by Russian opposition figure Mikhail Khodorkovsky. According to the Dossier Center, Putin’s sons, Ivan and Vladimir Jr., were born from his relationship with Kabaeva, a former Russian rhythmic gymnastics national team member.

Ivan, the elder son, is reportedly 9 years old and was born in the spring of 2015 in Lugano, Switzerland. Vladimir Jr., the younger son, is said to be 5 and was born in the spring of 2019 in Moscow, Russia. The exact dates of their births are known only to close family members.

The report was compiled with the help of a staff member employed by the Putin family and contains detailed information about the daily lives of his sons. They live in a mansion near Lake Valdai, northwest of Moscow, surrounded by a private tutor, a nanny, and security officers, without much interaction with the outside world. Following their father’s routine, they drink from their exclusive mugs, eat lunch around noon, take naps, and engage in classes and sports activities.

Among their toys is a massive Lego set, and the report adds that Ivan annoys his father by impersonating Disney characters. During the winter, the brothers travel to Krasnaya Polyana for skiing lessons, while in the summer, they embark on luxury yacht trips across the Gulf of Finland, the Black Sea, and northern Russian lakes.

The report also indicates that Putin and Kabaeva posted an advertisement seeking an English teacher on a website to hire staff for wealthy families. The Dossier Center observed that while Putin previously employed staff from the UK and New Zealand, he now prefers candidates from Russia-friendly nations such as South Africa.

Despite never publicly acknowledging his two sons, Putin has reportedly mentioned in a recent meeting with students in Siberia that “the young children in my family speak Chinese.” Ivan, the elder son, has allegedly told his tutor and bodyguards that his father was so delighted at his birth that he exclaimed, “Hooray, finally, a boy!”

The names of the two sons do not appear in official Russian birth records, as they are listed under “cover documents,” which are commonly used to protect spies or witnesses.

Putin also has two daughters, Maria Vorontsova and Katerina Tikhonova, from his previous marriage to Lyudmila. Putin has never publicly recognized his daughters, and they rarely appear in public. However, they drew attention when they both participated as speakers at the St. Petersburg International Economic Forum last June. There are also rumors that Putin has a daughter named Luiza from a previous relationship with another woman.
