Trump Targeted Again? Armed Suspect Arrested Near California Rally

Yonhap News

A man carrying firearms near a California campaign event for former President Donald Trump was arrested. The suspect was apprehended at a checkpoint about 0.8 kilometers (0.5 miles) from the entrance of the Coachella Valley rally the day before.

The police discovered the man carried a loaded shotgun, a handgun, high-capacity magazines, and a fake VIP pass. They suspect he is a member of a far-right anti-government group. Law enforcement charged him with possessing a loaded firearm and high-capacity magazines, and he was released after posting $5,000 bail.

Riverside County Sheriff Chad Bianco stated, “We probably prevented another assassination attempt,” noting that the suspect allegedly planned to kill Trump.

The incident follows previous assassination attempts on Trump. In July, Trump survived a shooting where he suffered a penetrating wound to his right ear. In September, another assassination attempt occurred when a man was caught ambushing Trump at a golf course in southern Florida, pointing a gun at him.
