A Ukrainian military official announced that North Korean troops came under attack in Russia’s western Kursk region.

Kyiv Independent – Andriy Kovalenko, head of the disinformation response center at the Ukrainian National Defense Council, revealed via Telegram that “the first North Korean soldiers were attacked by our troops in Kursk.” This marks the first time a Ukrainian military official has directly confirmed casualties among North Korean forces. However, he did not specify the extent of the damage or the situation.

Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskyy convened an emergency meeting with the Minister of Defense and other officials. Kyiv Independent reported that the meeting was held after the reports of engagement with North Korean forces. The report suggested that the Ukrainian military’s response is expected to become more robust.

Radio Free Asia reported that Russia has left North Korean troops abandoned on the battlefield based on drone footage. The footage showed three Russian armored vehicles attacking Ukrainian forces in the Kursk region. The armored vehicles can be seen turning around and withdrawing after the infantry disembarked from the cars, leaving the soldiers behind.

The Kyiv Independent also reported that conflicts have emerged between certain Russian troops and North Korean forces, primarily due to communication issues. The publication also noted that the Russian military is treating North Korean troops as expendable.
