Kim Jong Un, the North Korean leader, showed his respect to the late Kim Ki Nam, former propaganda deputy of the Workers’ Party, on the 7th by attending the leaving ceremony and funeral and even accompanying him to his grave.

Yonhap News reported on the 10th that the Korean Central News Agency stated Kim Jong Un attended a funeral at Sojang Hall in Pyongyang the previous day. He expressed deep sorrow, saying, “We could not overcome the great pain of losing a true loyalist of our party, a steadfast revolutionary, and a prominent political activist.”

In particular, Kim Jong Un served as the chairman of the state funeral committee, directing the late man’s state funeral. He also attended the late man’s final rites and personally added soil to the coffin where the deceased lay.

Kim Jong Un said, “Thanks to the elders of the revolution like Comrade Kim Ki Nam, we were able to advance the Juche revolution steadily amidst the storms of history,” and “The noble demeanor possessed by the old revolutionary is a model of life shining with loyalty and patriotism.”

Previously, former Secretary Kim Kim Nam died on the 7th while receiving treatment in bed for chronic illness and multiple organ failure. The deceased had served as the dean of Kim Il Sung University and the responsible editor of Rodong Sinmun. They held positions such as the deputy of the party’s propaganda and agitation department and propaganda secretary, leading the establishment and idolization of the legitimacy of the three-generation hereditary succession of Kim Il Sung, Kim Jong Il, and Kim Jong Un.
