On the 26th, South Korean President Yoon Suk Yeol and Chinese Premier Li Qiang held a summit at the Presidential Office in Yongsan. Yoon emphasized that South Korea and China need to closely cooperate not only for bilateral relations but also for the peace and prosperity of the international community.

Yoon made these remarks to Li, who is in Seoul to attend the 9th Korea-China-Japan Summit until the 27th.

Yoon stated, “Recently, ministerial-level dialogues in various fields between the two countries have resumed, and exchanges between local governments are also being revitalized. I hope that both countries continue to strengthen exchanges and cooperation, respect each other, and pursue common interests.”

Referring to the war in Ukraine, the Israel and Hamas conflict, and global economic uncertainties, he added, “Over the past 30 years, South Korea and China have overcome many difficulties together and contributed to each other’s development and growth. I hope that we continue to strengthen cooperation amidst today’s global complex crises.”

Li delivered President Xi Jinping’s greetings and said, “Looking back at the 30-year history of diplomatic relations between China and South Korea, our bilateral relationship has developed rapidly, especially in economy and trade, bringing great benefits to the people of both countries.”

He continued, “China and South Korea have always upheld mutual respect, openness, and inclusivity, strengthening convergence on substantive cooperation and benefits to promote common development and prosperity. We value all these precious experiences and hope to uphold them.”

He further added, “China wishes to be a good neighbor that is trustworthy to South Korea, and also a partner that supports each other’s success.”
