North Korea to Amplify Successes in Upcoming Political Summit

North Korea has heightened a victorious environment by self-praising its achievements before the plenary session to review the first half of 2024.

Rodong Sinmun emphasized in an article titled “The Workers’ Party is a Revolutionary Party That Opens the Full Development Period of Socialism Through the Indomitable Struggle” on June 28, “This plenary session will be a meeting of struggle and advancement to expand further amplification of favorable situations, phases, and valuable achievements obtained through consistent efforts.” North Korea has decided to convene the 10th Enlarged Plenary Meeting of the 8th WPK Central Committee in the second half of June through a political bureau meeting. This plenary session will discuss and decide on a series of important issues while summarizing the status of the first half of 2024’s work for the successful execution of this year’s national projects and various tasks.

The media reported that this meeting will “serve as an important political opportunity to inject new vitality into a great march of all the people moving forward toward a tomorrow of a civilized, prosperous, and powerful nation” and “decide our direction of advancement and leap solutions in response to the changing revolutionary situation.”

The media also praised the achievements in the economic and defense sectors. The media propagandized, “The flames of collective and solidarity innovation are fiercely burning in every front of economic construction, including 12 important highlands. Also, an unusual bumper crop of wheat and barley has been prepared in the agricultural sector,” adding, “Our nuclear power is thoroughly prepared to quickly and accurately perform the important mission of war deterrence at any time and circumstances.”

Given the media’s mention, it is possible that the meeting was held on June 28. However, due to various national events, including the North Korea-Russia summit following Russian President Vladimir Putin’s visit on June 19, the plenary session schedule may also have been postponed.

At this plenary session, a foreign strategy that includes follow-up measures for the recent Comprehensive Strategic Partnership Agreement signed by North Korea and Russia may also be announced. The agreement has virtually elevated the relationship between the two countries to a military alliance.

The media also mentioned the party’s leadership, which nimbly responds to changes in the situation and the changing revolutionary situation, suggesting that there will be an announcement on the diplomatic stance. Furthermore, an evaluation of the hostile anti-South Korea project that has been actively implemented since the beginning of this year and additional policies may also be announced.
