New Phase of North Korea-Russia Relations as Delegations Meet in Pyongyang and Moscow

After a strategic partnership, North Korea and Russia have intensified exchanges between the two nations.

On Tuesday, The Rodong Sinmun reported that a North Korean Workers’ Party delegation, led by Ri Myong Chol, Secretary of the Pyongyang City Party Committee, has departed for Russia.

The delegation was seen off at Pyongyang International Airport by Choe Hak Chol, Secretary of the Pyongyang City Party Committee, and Vladimir Topeka, Chargé d’Affaires, at the Russian Embassy in North Korea.

In a related development, a Russian Federation Armed Forces General Staff Military Academy delegation, headed by Vladimir Zarudnitsky, touched down in Pyongyang on Monday.

The Russian delegation was greeted at Pyongyang International Airport by Sonu Jong Chan, Vice President of Kim Il Sung Military University, Korean People’s Army officers, and Alexei Bartusov, Defense Attaché at the Russian Embassy in North Korea.
