ChatGPT’s Paid User Base Tops 1 Million—Why Businesses Are Jumping on Board

Daniel Kim Views

Recent reports indicate that ChatGPT has surpassed 1 million paid business users.

Reuters revealed on Thursday that OpenAI has now reached over 1 million paying customers across its business-oriented products, including ChatGPT Enterprise, Team, and Edu. This milestone reflects strong ongoing adoption of the AI firm’s advanced large language model. Approximately half of these paying users are located in the United States.

While the number of paid business users has significantly increased this year, the concrete numbers of how many businesses signed up are not released. Previously, OpenAI announced that the weekly active users surpassed 200 million, doubling from November of last year.

Despite the intense competition, Reuters notes a growing trend in demand for chatbots among businesses.

OpenAI earned an annual revenue of $1.6 billion last year and is reported to have surpassed $2 billion this year. The company aims for revenue of $3.4 billion this year, more than double last year’s figure.
