President-elect Donald Trump has filed a brief with the Supreme Court, asking for a delay in implementing the TikTok ban, which is set to take effect on January 19, 2025.

According to GIGAZINE, Trump’s 18-page brief requests that the incoming administration be given time to seek a negotiated resolution before enforcing the ban. The legislation aims to protect U.S. citizens from national security threats posed by apps controlled by foreign adversaries. It targets applications like TikTok that companies from hostile nations manage.

The bill passed quickly through the House of Representatives and was signed by President Joe Biden in just four days. The TikTok ban requires ByteDance, the Chinese parent company of TikTok, to either cease its U.S. operations or sell its business by the deadline.

While Trump initially supported the TikTok ban during his first term, he has recently changed his stance. On the other hand, Biden remains a strong proponent of the ban.
