BMW has introduced a Long Wheelbase (LWB) version of the 3 Series, specifically targeting the Indian market. This extended model provides more spacious rear seating than the standard 3 Series while incorporating numerous upscale interior features.

Targeting the Indian Market with an Extended Wheelbase

Unlike previous LWB BMW models, which debuted in China, this version is launching in India first. The Indian-built 330Li boasts a longer body than the existing 3 Series, with a length of 4,819mm, 106mm longer than its predecessor. While shorter than the Hyundai Grandeur (about 5,000mm), the extended wheelbase significantly enhances rear passenger space.

Interior and Features

It is among the longest in its segment, with a wheelbase extended by 110mm to 2,961mm. This puts its interior space on par with midsize sedans like the Hyundai Sonata, which is classified as a midsize sedan in the U.S. market. The interior showcases premium finishes, including aluminum Rhombicle Anthracite trim and BMW’s latest curved display technology.

Standard features cater to Indian consumer preferences, including an M leather steering wheel with a flat-bottom design, a panoramic sunroof, and ambient lighting.

Performance and Engine Specifications

Under the hood, the 330Li M Sport is powered by a 2.0-liter turbocharged four-cylinder engine producing 258 horsepower and 400 Nm (295 lb-ft) of torque. This power is available between 1,550 to 4,400 rpm, ensuring a responsive driving experience.

An 8-speed automatic transmission sends power to the rear wheels. The 6.2-second acceleration time from 0 to 100 km/h promises engaging driving dynamics.

Pricing and Market Impact

The 330Li M Sport starts at 6.26 million rupees (approximately $72,215) in India’s premium vehicle market. This release is expected to bolster BMW’s position in the Indian market. However, plans for a U.S. release remain uncertain.
