For car enthusiasts, while modern high-performance vehicles are certainly appealing, legendary models from the past hold a special, timeless significance.
Indeed, at various automotive communities and offline events, the presence of drivers who own these special vehicles of the past is warmly welcomed, often drawing crowds eager to catch a glimpse of these classic machines.
However, maintaining older vehicles can pose significant challenges. As these cars age, sourcing unique parts for repairs and upkeep becomes increasingly difficult.
In light of this, Japanese automaker Honda has announced welcome news for drivers of classic models. The company will begin manufacturing and selling newly produced compatible parts specifically for classic Honda vehicles.

According to Honda, starting in the spring of 2026, it will not only manufacture and supply new parts for discontinued vehicles but also offer full-scale restoration programs at the brand level for classic models.
This decision stems from the company’s long-standing internal discussions regarding support for discontinued models. The initiative will be called “Genuine Compatible Parts.”
Unlike traditional reproduction of discontinued components using outdated methods, Genuine Compatible Parts will be supplied through a combination of re-engineered parts, restoration processes, and modern technologies such as 3D printing.
To launch the new program, Honda has selected the iconic first-generation NSX as the lead model. Widely regarded as a legendary sports car and still beloved by enthusiasts worldwide, the NSX will be the first to receive a broad range of compatible parts under this initiative.

Alongside this development, Honda will also conclude its long-running NSX Refresh Plan, which began in 1993, by this summer. Starting next year, the program will be merged into the new restoration initiative.
The news has sparked interest not only among current NSX owners but also among owners of other discontinued Honda sports cars such as the CR-X and S2000, who are hopeful that the program will expand to include their vehicles.
Honda has announced that it will release further details about the Genuine Compatible Parts supply and the new restoration program shortly.
