A new menu item China’s Pizza Hut introduced as part of a collaboration with a popular game has caused quite a stir.

Recently, China’s Pizza Hut partnered with the game Dungeon & Fighter to release a new product called “Goblin Pizza,” named after the goblin character from the game.

To reflect the characteristics of the in-game goblin, Pizza Hut created the new product using ingredients such as chicken, cilantro, and olive pieces to depict the goblin’s frog-like body and its large, round eyes. However, the public’s reaction has been overwhelmingly negative.

Despite the creative use of various ingredients, the “Goblin Pizza” received backlash for its appearance, which, to some, resembled a bullfrog placed on top of a pizza, giving it an unsettling look.

Local internet users, who had high expectations, responded with harsh criticism of the new pizza: “Just looking at the picture is unpleasant and nauseating,” “If I eat this, I’ll probably have nightmares that night,” “It’s disgusting,” and “Unless it’s Halloween, I can’t imagine ordering this in everyday life.”

Pizza Hut has previously collaborated with game brands in countries like China and Japan. In August 2022, they partnered with the popular game Genshin Impact to release collaboration-exclusive pizzas and distribute merchandise featuring game characters. The promotion included pizza boxes, plates, aprons, and photo cards inspired by the characters.
