McDonald’s is under fire after a customer found a hair-like substance in their hamburger. The hair in question appears to be more than just a stray hair, leading to widespread criticism from consumers. Despite recurring hygiene issues, the company’s commitment to improvement remains questionable.

According to industry sources, a customer discovered a hair-like substance in their McMuffin. After receiving a refund, they were informed the burger had been discarded without a thorough investigation, which is a lack of seriousness in addressing the issue.

McDonald’s has long been involved in hygiene issues and has discovered foreign substances once more. However, the company’s inadequate hygiene management shows no signs of abating.

According to the Ministry of Food and Drug Safety, hamburger franchises have violated food hygiene laws 489 times over the past five years (2019-2023). McDonald’s accounts for 106 violations, 21.6% of the total.

In April, a piece of wood was found in a hamburger, oil paper in June, a 10cm thread in August, and hair in a chicken nugget.

A McDonald’s official said of the discovery of this foreign substance, “The hair is just a one-sided claim by the consumer.”
