Disney Turns the Tables After Marvel Stumble with Exciting Twist in ‘Wish’!

tvreport Views

The film “Wish,” released in celebration of Disney’s 100th anniversary, is making a remarkable comeback.

According to Box Office Mojo, a U.S. box office revenue tracking site, “Wish” has surpassed $160 million (about 140 billion won in Korean currency) in the global box office revenue as of December 12 (local time). This is an achievement made just three weeks after its release.

“Wish” faced fierce competition as its release coincided with “The Hunger Games: The Ballad of Songbirds and Snakes” and “Napoleon.” These two films outperformed “Wish” at the box office.

However, “Wish” has recently been released in several countries, including France, Switzerland, Germany, and Austria, and has been selected as one of the best films, showing remarkable results. The film became the first Disney original animation to surpass $100 million (about 131.5 billion won in Korean currency) since “Coco” (2017).

With 24 days left until 2023 as of December 12, it is expected that many audiences will visit the theaters with their families around the end of the year. Disney animations, known for their family-friendly nature, are still expected to draw the audience’s attention.

In major foreign markets such as Italy, Australia, Japan, South Korea, and Brazil, “Wish” has yet to be released, so its revenue is likely to increase significantly. The production cost of “Wish” is reported to be $200 million (about 263.2 billion won in Korean currency).

“Wish” is a musical animation from Disney Studios that encapsulates the dreams and courage unique to the studio over the past 100 years through storytelling. The story unfolds the tale of Aisha, a girl living in the magical kingdom of Rosas, and her goat friend Valentino, as they encounter a special ‘star’ with boundless energy. Disney fans are eagerly anticipating how their extraordinary journey will be portrayed

In South Korea, the film is set to be released on January 3rd, 2024, attracting a lot of attention from fans.
